Kid Friendly Food Ideas

Notes
1. Dont say diet. use the word as a noun not a verb.
2. Never reward with food.
3. Hunger cues, you be the guide.
4. Dont single them out
5. Dont deprive your child of certain foods.
6. Whatever you say and do will impact them in their future.
7. Remember their brains are growing and they need adequate nutrition.
8. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. By eating in the morning you provide your body with energy to utilize throughout the day.
9. Find out what they eat in school. Good healthy food brings good grades and attitudes.
10. Be an example to your children and drink a lot of water.
Children do as you do, not always as you say.
Reduce serving sizes
Count all tech. screens as TV time
Avoid unhealthy snack requests
Decrease sugars /fats in milk and yogurts
Control access to the fridge
Berries, banana n orange is best
Whole wheat grain waffles
Change bread to Whole Wheat grain, pita, bagels and tortilla wraps.
Try packing crackers or triscuts seperate from filling.
Cut sandwiches into triangles or shapes with a cookie cutter.
Salads such as potato or pasta are great lunch choices.
Finger foods are great for kids since they dont usually eat the whole meal.
Prepare cut up fruit, string cheeses, diced ham or turkey ham, carrot sticks, baby tomatoes, pretzels, mini crackers, goldfish.
Dipping- cut apple wedges and serve with a strawberry or peanut butter dip.
Veggies are great served with hummus, cream cheese dip or guacamole.
Regular exercise produces a mental attitude of self-care and self-esteem that bolsters confidence and the desire to continue to improve.
Recovery- its critical to refuel tired muscles after any extra curicular activity
Carbohydrates to protein ratio in equal amounts
0.8-1.2 to 0.3-0.4 per kilo of bodyweight ...bodyweight divide by 2.2
~A strong alternative is- 2% fat free chocolate milk
~Cereal with nonfat milk
~Spagetti with meat sauce
~Or a shake of "Champion Nutrition Ultramet" also can be turned into pudding.
